Boujloud's Gate, an attractive entrance to the spiritual city of Morocco, Fez

Bab Boujloud

Bab Boujloud is one of the famous gates in Fez, which is remarkable for its architecture, decoration, and beauty. Its importance comes from being the closest gates to The New Fez and The Royal Palace, which is an entrance that has become the gate from which tourists often enter to visit this adorable city.
It should be noted that the current gate that is well known in Fez is not the ancient historical one of the Kasbah of Boujloud as some researchers mistakenly thought that the current gate is one of the oldest gates of Fez, but the truth is that the one who established the current gate of Boujloud is the French authorities in 1913, while the original historical gate is actually to his left and it has been closed since then. Bab Boujloud was called The Gate of the Old Kasbah, a reference to The Kasbah of the Almoravids.
This Gate is important in Fez’s activity, as it is directly related to the two main commercial streets (Talaa Lakbira and Talaa Sghira), as it is considered one of the main three gates through which the Fez’s trade passes (Bab Ajisa, Bab Ftouh, and Bab Boujloud).
Socially, Bab Boujloud is located in a popular neighborhood in Fez, where there are many veterinarians, hotels, simple restaurants and cafes.
